Cavanna Homes cement position as five-star builder

Cavanna Homes have been named as one of the country’s most highly regarded homebuilders following an independent survey among its new customers.

The family-owned firm based in Torquay has just been awarded the maximum five stars for customer satisfaction in the nationwide Home Builders Federation (HBF) survey – for the fourth year in a row.

The prestigious five stars mean that at least 90 per cent of new Cavanna homeowners would recommend the company to a friend. The survey has been carried out annually for the past 11 years, but Cavanna Homes has only been included since 2013 when the customers of smaller firms were first surveyed.

That means the company has been rated as among the best-performing home builders in the UK every time it has been judged, and is the only firm in the South West to have earned such consistently high ratings.

Managing Director Eugene Rapson said: “For more than 20 years Cavanna Homes has conducted its own customer surveys to ensure that we are continually responding to the expectations of our homebuyers.

“The HBF customer survey is hugely important in supplementing this work and showing that smaller family housebuilders, like ourselves, can achieve a maximum five-star rating by offering a standard of product and service that matches, and often exceeds, that of the largest housebuilders in the land.

“Across the industry, increases in production have put pressure on builders and the customer satisfaction scores of some of the larger housebuilders have fallen in recent years.

“Last year our turnover increased to £51 million, based on the sale of 247 homes. This was achieved by increasing our number of sites rather than driving our existing projects more quickly, which helped us to preserve the time available on site for quality control. We have also moved to strengthen and grow the team here at our headquarters in Torquay so we are able to continue to give our customers the after-sales service they deserve.

“Cavanna Homes is committed to steady growth, building the right homes in the right places, and maintaining the long-standing family values which have guided our success since we were founded in 1923.

“Our long-term plans include measured growth of around 10 per cent per annum, all being well, based on our policy of reinvesting profit, which we hope will allow us to maintain quality.”

Cavanna Homes Executive Chairman Jeremy Cavanna said: “In addition to the 2015 HBF five-star rating, last year also saw us win Gold in the national WhatHouse? Awards, an LABC Bricks first prize, an NHBC Pride in the Job award and an honour from the Building Safety Group.

“We are proud that the standard of our work and quality of our homes continues to be recognised by the industry and, most importantly, our homebuyers.”

Stewart Baseley, Executive Chairman of the HBF said: “The customer satisfaction survey is an established barometer for measuring house builders’ customer service levels. The scheme is an independently monitored survey of the people who really matter to our industry, our customers. To achieve such a high level of customer satisfaction, especially at a time when housing output overall is increasing rapidly, requires commitment from board room to site, and is a fantastic achievement.”
