This couple [pictured] are now settling in to their dream home, thanks to Cavanna Homes and the Help to Buy scheme.
For Paul McGuire and Emma Purcell, who will be getting married later in the year, were among the first people to move in to Cavanna Homes’ Primrose Hill development, not far from the new South Devon Highway in Torquay.
And the location near the £110 million highway was one of the reasons Paul and Emma decided Primrose Hill was right for them. Paul has a daily commute to Exeter, and Emma works at a school near the Willows in Torquay.
Paul said: “We visited a lot of show homes so we had a good idea of what was available and that helped us decide what sort of home we wanted and where.
“Primrose Hill ticked all the boxes because it’s close to Emma’s job in Torquay and not far from mine in Exeter. The new South Devon Highway has made it much easier for me to get to work and back.
“Primrose Hill is a lovely new development, really well laid out with plenty of green space and good footpath links. I especially like the fact that there’s a wide variety of house types here too, so it has a very appealing look. We reserved our house the day after it was released.
“I used to work for Cavanna Homes, so know all the benefits of living in a new home, like the 10-year NHBC warranty and Cavanna’s two-year customer support package. The homes are well designed to make the most of the location, and are really well put together. We’re really happy here: it’s a home for our future.”
Emma said: “We’d been renting a flat in Torquay for a few years but really wanted a home of our own. We both have good jobs but paying rent as we were meant it would be a long time before we could save up enough for a big deposit on our own house.
“Help to Buy meant we had to find a deposit of five per cent of the purchase price with the government lending us another 20 per cent of the cost of the house, which also means the mortgage payments are easier to afford.
“It’s made all the difference to us, and I’d recommend that anyone in a similar position should have a look at the scheme, it helped us achieve our dream.”
Paul and Emma bought an Easton style home, one of six three-bedroom house styles available at Primrose Hill. When complete Primrose Hill will consist of 155 homes, ranging from two to four bedrooms.
Cavanna Homes’ Sales Manager Lynn Worley said: “Many people are already feeling the benefits of the South Devon Highway, not least our customers at Primrose Hill who are enjoying being close to the heart of Torquay and the delights of the Bay while also being less than half an hour from both Dartmoor and Exeter.
“Paul and Emma are among a growing number of people who have been able to take advantage of Help to Buy and other schemes helping people afford a home of their own.”
The show home at Primrose Hill is open seven days a week from 10am-5pm. For more information, please call 01803 896893, email [email protected] or see more on our development page.
