Home in Dartmoor National Park proves perfect for growing family

A new home at Palstone Meadow has proven to be the perfect choice for one growing family.

Ben and Sarah Rowntree have just picked up the keys to their new Cavanna Homes three-bedroom property in South Brent. The couple, expecting their first child in June, wanted to be close to their families, in Exeter and Torquay, while also being near friends in Avonwick and Ivybridge.

Palstone Meadow, off Exeter Road, is within the Dartmoor National Park, and so the natural beauty of this stunning part of the world is on their doorstep.

Mum-to-be Sarah is a graphic designer who works from home. She said: “Dartmoor is so inspirational, actually living in the National Park is really special.

“Our neighbours have been really helpful in pointing out many of the other benefits of South Brent. There’s a very strong community feel here, with a lot of groups and clubs, we were really drawn to the town because of the small community and the surprising variety of independent local shops, cafes and deli. Ben and I can’t wait to explore more of the South Hams too.

“We’re really looking forward to bringing up our new family here.”

Ben, a Land Assistant at Cavanna, added: “Palstone Meadow is perfect for us. It’s in a lovely, quiet rural setting on the edge of South Brent, and the A38 dual carriageway is only a few minutes away, so it’s an easy commute for me to Torquay and brilliant for nipping off to see family and friends.

“We love the outdoor life and really appreciate having the wide open spaces of Dartmoor so close to home. It’s a great place for us or anyone who enjoys walking, cycling or surfing – basically just getting out and making the most of this stunning location. We love the Devon coast too – Bantham Beach is one of our favourite places and only half an hour away so I’m sure we will be down there a lot in the summer.”

The couple have moved in to a Weston-style home, and have turned one of the three bedrooms into an office/guest room – and another into a nursery.

Karen Heywood-Cann, Cavanna Homes’ Sales Manager, said: “Palstone Meadow has a lot to offer young families like Ben and Sarah. It’s in a beautiful part of the world, and part of a friendly, thriving community. It’s also close to the A38 so Plymouth, Exeter and Torquay are all within easy reach.

“Like all our new home owners at Palstone Meadow, Ben and Sarah have the benefit of a 10-year NHBC Buildmark warranty as well as our award-winning two-year Cavanna customer support package.

“We are an approved Help to Buy builder, which means that with a Government equity loan purchasers could pick up the keys to their new Cavanna home with a five per cent deposit and a 75% mortgage.”
