It’s been a great year for us so far with a hat-trick of awards in two prestigious industry awards schemes.
We recently became the South West winner for the Best High Volume (large) New Housing Development in the Local Authority Building Control’s (LABC) annual Building Excellence Awards, for phase two of our Primrose Hill development in Torquay.
We will now go head-to-head with the other regional winners from around the country in the national Grand Final in November. Watch this space!
Primrose Hill comprises a range of 155 energy-efficient homes, close to The Willows retail park, and is now in phase four of construction. It has proved exceptionally popular and all homes in phases 1-3 have already been sold.
It was a very nice surprise to learn earlier this year that we had been shortlisted in all four categories we entered in the competition, which recognises those companies and individuals that “go that extra mile” and achieve exceptional standards.
Our team’s expertise and vision impressed the judges across the board: in addition to Primrose Hill, for Best High Volume (large) New Housing Development, we were also shortlisted for our developments at Rockbeare Briar in East Devon, Palstone Meadow in South Brent and Fusion C in Paignton.
And for the categories of Best Low Volume (small) New Housing Development and Best Social or Affordable Housing Development, we were shortlisted for our 24-home development Offshore, which is located in the South Hams village of Stoke Fleming.
Becoming finalists in all categories is a testament to what we’ve achieved at each location. It also demonstrates our commitment to maintaining high standards and the expertise of our staff across all our developments.
In addition, huge congratulations go to one of our site managers, Gary Gregory was also announced as a South West finalist in the competition’s Residential Construction Professional of the Year category for his role at our Palstone Meadow development in South Brent.
Gary, 44, who is from Plymouth and joined Cavanna Homes four years ago, said: “One of the main challenges at Palstone Meadow was that it contained several different styles of homes; in fact there were 18 different house types across 40 homes, so almost every other plot was a first time build. Becoming a finalist is great recognition, for both myself and my team.”
Earlier this year we were also announced as the winner of the Best Large Development category in the Devon Building Control Partnership Awards for our Offshore development. These annual awards celebrate building excellence throughout Teignbridge, the South Hams and West Devon so we are thrilled to receive this accolade.
