Delightful Dawlish, Teignmouth and Holcombe

South Devon is full of many hidden treasures, including the picturesque coastal towns of Dawlish, Teignmouth and the village of Holcombe. We want to share with you our reasons for loving this beautiful part of the Westcountry and why we’ve committed to building beautiful new homes in the local area.

Teignbridge stretches from the west side of Exeter, with Dartmoor to the north and the magnificent coastline and sea to the south. The attractive towns and villages of Ashburton, Newton Abbot, Dawlish, Teignmouth, and Holcombe all offer plenty to enjoy.

Dawlish is a popular seaside town, renowned for its golden sandy beaches and home to the famous black swans who have been residents there since at least the early 1900s.  Dawlish Warren comprises a stunning 500 acre nature reserve which stretches right down to the Exe Estuary, and a Blue Flag beach with seaside attractions including fairground rides, an arcade and food and drink stalls.

Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s famous Great Western Mainline Railway (GWR) runs alongside the coast at Dawlish – arguably one of the most spectacular rail journeys in Britain – before continuing beneath the sea cliffs to Teignmouth then following the River Teign to Newton Abbot.

Teignmouth, with its Victorian pier, lido, play park, crazy golf, skate park, water sports, beach, town centre shops and restaurants attracts visitors from near and far and, if you cross the bridge over the River Teign you’ll be in the village of Shaldon which offers a great family day out with a trip to Shaldon Wildlife Trust Zoo and, maybe, a bite to eat in one the excellent local restaurants, pubs or cafés.

Winding its way along the coast is the South West Coast Path which meets the end of the Templer Way at Teignmouth, an 18-mile trail which traces the historic line of granite being taken from the quarries at Haytor on Dartmoor to the docks at Teignmouth.

We have a fantastic coastal portfolio of new homes in Dawlish, including Barley Meadow off Secmaton Lane – a new community of two to four-bedroom homes on the rural edge of the town offering a lifestyle choice for families and commuters alike. Exeter city centre is a short train or car journey away and Dawlish town is within walking distance with its good selection of small shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and a leisure centre.

Barley Meadow is next door to an earlier Cavanna development, “Aspects”, which was completed in 2015. Both developments are popular with families who are within walking distance of the Gatehouse Primary Academy school and Dawlish Community College.

Baymount on Southdowns Road with its 18 beautiful new homes is another Cavanna development in Dawlish which sold quickly.

Haldon Forest is just over 10 minutes’ drive from Dawlish with its 3,500 acres of woodland and a network of paths for walkers, runners and cyclists. Keen cyclists can also enjoy, the Exe Estuary Trail offering off-road cycling for 20 miles between Dawlish and Exmouth alongside the most stunning coastline in the South West.

The picturesque village of Holcombe is between Dawlish and Teignmouth and is home to our beautiful Lyme View – a development of 35 new three to five-bedroom family homes with some homes featuring magnificent sea views towards Lyme Bay.

There’s a narrow sand and shingle cove less than 15-minutes’ walk from Lyme View, and within the village, you’ll find a small convenience store, two pubs (The Castle Inn and The Smugglers Inn) and a village hall which hosts local events and clubs.

There is a lot to love about delightful Dawlish, Teignmouth and Holcombe with breath-taking sea views, stunning coastal walks and plenty of open countryside to explore, making it the perfect place for you and your family. Although you can’t visit many of these places at the moment, they’ll be ready and waiting for you once it is safe to reopen.
