Hire Desk Apprentice

We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice to join the Company.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing relevant mechanical equipment and facilities to active developments throughout the South West.

You will be observing, learning and gaining an understanding of a wide range of hire desk skills and processes, while under the instruction of experienced and skilled staff.

Initial responsibilities

  • Supporting the department in achieving its operational objectives
  • Booking in and out small tools, machinery and site equipment
  • Data input for equipment hired
  • Rehiring and co-ordination of external equipment
  • Liaising with Site Management on equipment requirements


  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Time management skills
  • Good team player
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Packages

On this apprenticeship programme, you will work towards achieving your NVQ 2 in Hire Desk Operations.

Essential Requirements

4 GCSE’s grades A – C (or equivalent) including Maths and English.

Hours of work

Monday to Thursday 8.00am – 4.30pm with 30 min lunch

Friday 8.00am – 3.30m with 30 min lunch

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £7,504 per annum. This salary applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.

If you are 19 or over and in your second year of the apprenticeship, your salary will increase to a minimum of £11,966.
