About the Role

This apprenticeship is an exciting opportunity to take the first step in your IT career, allowing you to study for an academic qualification while working and learning alongside friendly and experienced professionals.

You will gain valuable knowledge and skills in different areas of IT including hardware, software, services and infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Head of IT, you will be responsible for a breadth of supporting tasks including providing effective first line assistance to users at all levels of the organisation. You may not always have the answer to every question but will be fully supported to find out the answers and to truly learn from your experiences.

 

In this role, you will be doing a variety of tasks each day, including:

  • Acting as an approachable first point of contact for users and third parties for all IT enquiries and requests, ensuring that a high level of customer service and support is provided to all internal and external contacts
  • Logging all support requests that are received by telephone, email or in person into the central service desk system, ensuring that all relevant information needed to prioritise and resolve requests is obtained and evaluated
  • Prioritising support requests received through the service desk system, resolving issues at the point of call, escalating concerns of a complex nature to the second line or third parties where required for advice and guidance, and taking ownership of support requests to ensure they are resolved in a timely, professional manner and that all involved parties are kept updated throughout
  • Maintaining our knowledge base and end user self-service portal, updating documentation and procedures to assist the IT team and end users with resolving support requests
  • Maintaining documentation of physical assets, software licenses and managed services
  • Installation of equipment and network infrastructure at head office and remote offices, ensuring that all IT assets are documented
  • Installation of operating systems and applications on laptops and desktops, ensuring that they are kept up to date and that licenses for all software are recorded and maintained

  • Obtaining quotes and creating purchase orders to obtain additional hardware, software and managed services where required, authorised and within budget
  • Overseeing the creation, maintenance, and retirement of user accounts with correct security permissions, authority levels and other policies
  • Maintenance, cleaning, and disposal of IT equipment
  • Assisting with roll out of solutions to support infrastructure projects and digital transformation projects.

 

This is an 18-month apprenticeship, ideally suited for individuals who want to begin a successful and rewarding career in IT

We are looking for a highly motivated professional, who is keen to learn and explore a career in IT. We are looking for applicants who are:

  • Confident using computers
  • Have a good level of arithmetic
  • Confident in using the telephone
  • Organised
  • Able to work on their own initiative
  • Willing to learn and assist where needed
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Be willing to work flexibly, undertake training, and perform additional duties to meet the demands of the role
