Stoke Gabriel is a stunning South Hams village, on the banks of the River Dart, surrounded by the green rolling hills of the South Devon Area of Outstanding National Beauty.
A 10 minutes’ walk from our King’s Orchard development is the quay where little boats are moored to a jetty and you can rent or launch your own kayak or paddleboard from the banks of the creek and explore the spectacular River Dart with its boathouses and beaches dotted along the route.
If you paddle down to Dittisham you’ll find some fabulous Devon pubs selling delicious seafood and other delicacies. On the other side of the river, there’s Agatha Christie’s beloved holiday home Greenway House and gardens which are managed by the National Trust and open to visitors year-round.
Back on the quayside at Stoke Gabriel, at any time of the year you’ll always find children and their parents with crabbing lines, working-up an appetite for a slice of cake or a tasty cream tea at The River Shack.
The village also offers a full range of local amenities including a post office, pub, football club, boating association and primary school, and in 15-minutes by car, you can reach Totnes, a charismatic market town full of independent shops, cafes and restaurants. 15-minutes in the opposite direction, you’ll be in the seaside town of Paignton, well- known for its long, sandy beaches and pier.
