What To Do In Exeter At Christmas Time

There is plenty to do, see and visit near our new homes in Exeter during the run-up to Christmas. Here are a few of our favourite festive activities you might want to go along to this season.

Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market

Whether you’re looking to do a spot of Christmas shopping or want to soak up the festive cheer, Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market offers something for everyone. There’s a range of food stalls serving delicious dishes, some globally inspired and others from local food suppliers, as well as a variety of stalls selling handcrafted gifts, goods, decorations and more!

If you want to enjoy the Christmas spirit and the beautiful backdrop of Exeter Cathedral, head over to the covered bar area to enjoy a mulled wine or another festive tipple.

Exeter Cathedral events

Exeter Winter Wonderland

This year’s Winter Wonderland is taking place at Northernhay Gardens, close to Exeter Central Station.

Entry to the Wonderland is free should you just want to visit for a hot drink, festive refreshment and a walk around. Activities such as ice skating and visiting Santa’s Grotto need to be pre-booked online here and tokens for the thrill rides can be purchased at the ticket office on site.

The Wonderland is open from 11am until 10pm in the lead up to Christmas and offers so much for all ages to enjoy.

Christmas at the Castle

If you’re looking for an affordable afternoon or evening out with your family, Powderham Castle is hosting its popular event, Christmas at the Castle.

Visitors can explore the beautifully decorated grounds and gardens with exciting light features, displays and storytelling. The route has been planned to ensure it is suitable for buggies and mobility scooters too.

In the Potting Shed, you can enjoy warm refreshments and The Christmas Barn has been transformed into a magical market, perfect for picking up some last-minute Christmas presents.  Tickets for Christmas at the Castle can be purchased here – https://powderham.digitickets.co.uk/category/36315
