Cavanna Homes celebrates 5-star status, with special book for schools

We are extremely proud to have been awarded the prestigious 5-star rating by the Home Builders Federation, the maximum accreditation for house builders in England and Wales.

The rating is recognition that more than 90% of our customers have awarded us 5-stars in a survey run by the Home Builders Federation (HBF). Only housebuilders which achieve that score can call themselves 5-star housebuilders.

To celebrate, we have donated a brilliant new book on house building to primary schools close to our current developments – demonstrating our commitment to the existing communities where we are building new homes.

Copies of architect and TV presenter George Clarke’s book, How to Build a Home, have already been presented to children at three Devon primary schools for their school libraries. Further copies of the book will be distributed to other schools in the South West, close to our developments.

The first copy of the book was presented to pupils at Monkerton Community Primary School, Exeter by our Director of Construction James Stride on World Book Day (March 7). Pupils and staff were dressed as their favourite characters from children’s literature – and James wore his building site hard hat and reflective jacket to make the presentation.

Copies have also been presented to Pinhoe Church of England Primary School in Exeter and Exminster Community Primary School by our Head of Customer Service, Hayley Mills.

Our Group Managing Director Grayham Tucker said: “It is hugely important to us that our customers have recognised the quality of the homes we build and have rewarded us with a 5-star rating in surveys carried out by the Home Builders Federation.

“This is due in no small part, to the hard work and attention to detail of everyone involved, including Cavanna staff, contractors, suppliers and consultants.  I want to thank them all for their efforts, which have been recognised with this 5-star rating.

“And what better way to mark that achievement than by giving something back to the communities where we are building, by donating this brilliant book to primary schools near to our developments. We hope that it helps to inspire the next generation of house builders too!”

The Home Builders Federation Survey is one of the most comprehensive, large-scale surveys of its type carried out in the UK. Since its launch in 2006 more than half a million survey returns have been received, building up a valuable database of information on what new homeowners think of their properties.

In How to Build a Home writer and presenter George Clarke shares his enthusiasm for house building design and construction, with chapters on the history of house building and its development over the years – as well as a look into what the home of the future might look like.

Commenting on the book donations, George Clarke said: “Thanks to Cavanna Homes for buying and donating copies of my kids book ‘How to Build a Home’ to schools in the south west of England. Great stuff!! I really appreciate it.”
