A forever home for the Fisher family

The Fisher family found their dream home at Cavanna Homes’ Elm Park community – with the help and support of Sales Advisor Jazz Evans.

Mum and Dad – Iona and Steve Fisher – have moved into a detached four-bedroom Langcombe property at the development, which is located between Exminster and Alphington, with their three daughters and one son.

And they are full of praise for Jazz, who helped them reserve the plot overlooking open countryside, organised their choice of floor coverings and fittings and took the stress out of the whole moving process.

“Jazz could not have been more helpful,” says Iona, who also praised the rest of the Cavanna team at Elm Park, including Site Manager Rob Farkins and Assistant Site Manager Ian Napier.  “They couldn’t do enough for us – they were all so lovely,” says Iona.

Iona and Steve sold their three-bedroom semi-detached home in Camberley, Surrey, where they had lived for 30 years, with the help of Cavanna Homes’ Move Assist Service. The scheme offers practical and financial assistance for those who have set their heart on purchasing a new Cavanna home.

It meant the Fishers could put down the £1,000 deposit to secure their dream plot at Elm Park with the three-storey house they wanted – and when their old home sold within a month, they could start to organise the move.

They are now happily settled and daughters Amelia, 17, Lucy 21, and twins Hannah and Callum, 23 are enjoying the extra space. Their eldest daughter Eleanor, 25, who still lives in Surrey, loves visiting the new family home.

Iona and Steve decided to head west after making regular visits to see Hannah who was studying at the University of Exeter. Much like their daughter, they fell in love with the city and the area, and at the end of a ten-day holiday, much of it spent house-hunting, they visited Elm Park, Exeter.

Iona says: “It was the last place we saw, and it suited us perfectly. My husband had an idea in his head for the layout we needed and we found it in the Langcombe home. For us as a family, the sizes of the bedrooms are perfect – with so many other new builds the bedrooms are not so generous.

Another plus is the bathrooms. Iona admits it had sometimes been a struggle with four girls and a boy growing up in their house in Camberley, with just one bathroom. “There was always somebody in there,” she jokes.

Their new home has two ensuite bathrooms, another large family bathroom and a separate downstairs W/C. Iona is also impressed with the utility room, “I never had one in our old house – it is so handy!” She also added, “the whole house is finished to such a high-standard – we can’t fault it.”

Iona loves the sympathetic planting and green spaces all around the Elm Park development and the proximity to employment opportunities. “Steve is a specialist car paint sprayer and refinisher, so being close to Marsh Barton is ideal. I’m sure it’ll also be useful when the children are job hunting too!”

“The location could not be more accessible,” Iona says. “We are close enough to the city, there is easy access to the M5 and A30 and there is so much to see and do around here.” The couple are keen golfers and are already investigating clubs and courses in the area.

The Fishers believe the ethos of Cavanna Homes, as a family homebuilder, is what makes the difference, both to the quality of the homes and the process of buying a new build.

“We were completely new to it all,” says Iona.  “We had never bought a new build before and hadn’t moved for 30 years, but Cavanna Homes made it all so straightforward and we really have got the home of our dreams.”
