New Director of Development for South West based Cavanna Homes

Cavanna Homes has announced the appointment of Ben Jobson as its new Director of Development.

Ben, 35, who grew up in Abbotskerswell and was educated at Torquay Boys’ Grammar School, joins Cavanna Homes from the Vistry Group where he was Regional Operations   Director. Before that he has worked at Persimmon Homes, the social housing provider, Devon and Cornwall Housing, now known as LiveWest, and Barratt Homes.

Ben’s role at Torquay-based Cavanna Homes will focus predominantly on land acquisition and the commercial and technical operations across the business, as well as engaging with all departments across the firm. “We’ve got some brilliantly talented people who are excellent at what they do – and I want to play my part in helping the business and the people to succeed,” he said.

Ben believes Cavanna Homes, operating under strong principles established over more than a century as a family-owned business, is well placed to face the challenges affecting all homebuilders, helping to provide the new homes the South West needs.

He said: “For the first time in many years there is no Government support to get people onto the housing ladder. The land market is also competitive and with the protracted planning system, although the Government is talking about improvements, it could be a long time before we see any tangible results.”

He added: “As a respected SME in the Westcountry, Cavanna Homes is very well placed to move quickly to respond to opportunities and provide appropriate housing developments where they are needed:”

Paul Moran, Group Managing Director of Cavanna Homes, said: “I have worked with Ben at both Barratt Homes and Vistry Group and know he will bring his creativity and outstanding people skills to the role of Director of Development here at Cavanna Homes.

“This is a challenging but exciting time for the sector and with Ben as part of the team, we are in a strong position to move forward successfully in continuing to meet the housing needs in the South West.”

Ben, who has two young sons, enjoys time with his family when he is not at work – and plays the occasional game of golf. He said he is delighted to have been able to progress his career in the South West with a well-established regional housebuilder with such strong ties to the region.
