Housebuilder SWOT analysis 2025

Group Managing Director, Paul Moran joined leaders from across the housebuilding sector to share his thoughts on the current strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats within the housebuilding industry, in Housebuilder Magazine’s annual SWOT analysis.

Growth potential is cited as the industry’s biggest strength with housebuilder’s ready to step up to meet the government’s pledge to build 1.5 million new homes in this Parliament, and customer demand.

When it comes to the sector’s top weakness, Paul agrees with the majority who are “pining the loss of “Help to Buy”. He explained, “Whilst we welcome Government announcements in support of the construction sector, the absence of incentives to help drive house sales has caused market stagnation.

“It’s clear that without first time buyers no one can move, so we must hope the mortgage reforms announced by the Chancellor in July 2025 help first time buyers onto the property ladder to reignite movement, otherwise the sector will desperately need a new initiative to replace Help to Buy.”
