About the area

With its iconic palm trees, bustling harbour and marina, Torquay is a handsome town with a mediterranean feel. It boasts a pier, promenade, and the pretty Royal Terrace Gardens (also known as Rock Walk), with its magnificent new illuminated staircase and viewing platform.

The town is also home to a range of beaches, including Anstey’s Cove, Babbacombe, Meadfoot and Oddicombe. For entertainment, there’s a lively programme of shows at the Princess Theatre, regular seasonal activities and festivals including major sailing events.

For dining out, there’s a range of restaurants on the waterfront – many making good use of the fish and seafood landed at nearby Brixham – in addition to a wide selection of pubs, bars and cafes in the town centre. Shoppers are also well catered for with the town providing a variety of independent and high street names.
