Room by room look at styling a Cavanna show home

How do you give house buyers a clear sense of what life could be like in their new home when the development is yet to be fully completed?

Here at Cavanna Homes, we invite them to view our beautifully designed and furnished show homes, which clearly demonstrate how each room can be used to its full effect, creating a vision of the perfect place to live.

Designing and styling a show home is a job that we entrust to experts at Show Business Interiors, an interior design company that brings personality and imagination to the task. Outside, it’s the responsibility of garden designer Emily Fuller of Tony Benger Landscaping to impress.

Our show home is now open at Bickington Park, near Barnstaple and ready to welcome you as a homebuyer, helping you and your family get a true impression of what living in this newly created community could be like.

An impressive hallway welcomes you into the four-bedroom Hockinston, with doors leading off to the lounge, well-appointed kitchen/dining room, study, downstairs cloakroom and utility.

Stepping into the lounge, Show Business Interiors’ Creative Director Sian Jenkins has helped us to create a welcoming space that will prove to be just the place to relax after a walk on the beach – or a hectic day at the office!

She says: “We’ve chosen wall panelling to add character and depth and selected a plush corner sofa and a contrasting armchair with upholstered footstool – just the thing to sink into and relax after a busy outdoorsy kind of day.”

The kitchen/diner, accessed off the hall, gives you the high-end appliances and ample entertaining space to match your modern lifestyle. And with an understanding of new and emerging work patterns, there is also a study at the other end of the hall, to give any home-workers in the family a dedicated base.

Upstairs there are four bedrooms, two with en-suites, and a family bathroom. Decorating and styling a child’s bedroom has to take into account the speed at which they grow! Soft, earthy colours and playful details can really lift a room. At Bickington Park, Sian has helped us to furnish the show home bedroom in a way that ‘grows’ with the child – something which we know our family home buyers will value.

The whole house has been styled to reflect relaxed coastal living, incorporating a palette of warm neutrals, coastal hues, and tactile textures. “We think it captures both comfort and a sense of relaxed sophistication,” Sian says – we hope you will agree.

At Cavanna Homes we build properties that inspire you to create a place to live to match your lifestyle. Sian suggests that dressing a hallway with pictures of family events, establishing dedicated hobby corners or adding touches of décor that underline your style and character can all personalise a home.

Moving from rented accommodation or stepping up from a smaller home brings all kinds of opportunities and at Cavanna Homes we understand that for many buyers one of the most important is the chance to have a garden and a pet – or two! It’s one of the reasons why we turf our gardens as standard, ready for buyers to enjoy from the moment they move in.

Garden designer Emily Fuller has produced a stunning garden for the new show home at Bickington Park, which we believe will really inspire you to make the most of the outside space – such an important part of a home, we know.

Specifically for pet owners she has included an outdoor dog bed in a cool, shady spot where a dog can enjoy the garden – offering great inspiration for dog loving house buyers. Emily’s design means homebuyers can see precisely how they can adapt their own Cavanna home to make it pet-friendly, as well as providing space and interest for the whole family.

Emily says: “Key considerations include sunlight and shade patterns throughout the day, privacy, the flow between interior and exterior spaces, and the overall proportions of the garden. Our aim is to make the space feel open and inviting without requiring intensive maintenance.

“Plant choice is also crucial – we select a palette that offers year-round interest and structure, while being well-suited to the local climate and soil conditions. Material finishes and hard landscaping elements are chosen to complement the home’s exterior and interior styling, creating a sense of cohesion and harmony between inside and out.

“Ultimately, the goal is to create a garden that feels like an extension of the home – usable, attractive, and tailored to modern living.”

Emily says the garden must fit in with the natural surroundings at Bickington Park. “By using best-practice horticultural methods and carefully considered materials, we can create a garden that feels in tune with its environment – a space that looks great from day one but will also grow and thrive for years to come,” she says.

Emily advises new homeowners putting together their own garden to always chose plants that suit the location, ensuring the right plant goes into the right place. She also says low input gardening – doing a little less than might once have been recommended – can pay dividends.

“Letting seed heads linger, skipping a bit of deadheading, or leaving some leaf litter in winter can help wildlife thrive and support soil health,” she says. “Perfection isn’t always natural – and your garden will thank you for it.”

It can be hard to visualise what life might be like in a new home but with the help of top interior specialists and garden designers Cavanna Homes will help you project forward and get a taste of what your new home could be like when you come home to Cavanna.
